Cate & Craig’s Handmade Wedding
Cate and Craig’s wedding day was picture perfect, from the couple themselves to the wonderful array of props and details which enhanced their stunning back drop. The whole day was beautifully captured by Naomi Kenton of Rock and Rose Photography. Cate had obviously taken pride in her handmade features and spent many hours, painting, cleaning and searching for props and creating handmade pieces.
The extensive list of Cate’s homemade haul included painting all the wooden signage around the grounds of their venue, the watercolour painting used on the invitations, menus and table plan with the assistance of a calligrapher Cate hired. She also created a welcome chalkboard for her guests, which is a lovely touch.
We love the addition of the dressing table with the drawers brimming with lavender (the scent would have been amazing) and the calligraphy writing on the mirror. Cate created this space for guests to leave their cards and gifts, but also a place for people to write messages in their guest book and take photos with a few strategically placed Polaroid cameras.
There was a fabulous array of props which Cate collected in the months and weeks leading up to her and Craig’s big day. These included a collection of vintage cameras, books, frames and other wonderful items, plus the fantastic restoration of popcorn machine, an absolute find!
Cate also went to town with the gold spray, from which she created the sprayed watering can
and gold sprayed animals for the lids of the mason jars. Some old suitcases were given a new lease of life with a lick of paint and lining. We love the suitcase bursting with bags of confetti.
Everything was sourced or made by Cate with some help from a stylist who also helped to set it all up on the day. We can see that her preparation and her hard work truly paid off.
Please get in touch if you would like any information on how to create any of Cate’s ideas. She also mentioned that she might start her own prop hire company one day as she kept all of her amazing treasures.
